On
December 16, more than 100 GIA members gathered in the Battery
Maritime
Building
to celebrate the year's success, see old friends and network with other Island
partners. Guests included representatives from elected officials, community
businesses and residents, preservation and environmental activists, artists,
and educators. GIPEC and the National Park Service were in attendance, as well
as members of design teams planning the new park space on the south side of the
Island.
Thanks to our sponsors: Electra Information Systems, Brooklyn Brewery, and
Greene Grape.
It was wonderful to have everyone together to discuss the future of the Island
as we gear up our advocacy campaign for the Island's
capital and operating budget. With an expected 200,000+ visitors, new public
spaces and the Hudson
celebration, we are confident that 2009 will be a great year. But only with
your help.
We rely on member donations to support our Island
advocacy and continue our free public programming. Please consider donating to GIA if you haven't already done
so this year.
Please also tell us what you thought about our party
and about potential future GIA events.
Happy
Holidays from the Alliance!
