Dear
Friends of Governors Island:
Maybe
you came out for a tour of the historic district, and saw the wonderful frame
houses in Nolan Park and the monumental stone forts.
Or
it could have been a folk concert on Colonels Row, where you picnicked under a
shady tree.
You
might have been on your bicycle, cruising the car-free lanes along the
waterfront and soaking up views of the Harbor and Lady Liberty.
People
remember the first time they came to Governors Island.
It's the thrill of discovering something new, and seeing New York in a new light. It's about knowing a
place that is truly unique, and then sharing your experience with family and
friends.
Bringing
first-time visitors to the Island is something the Governors Island Alliance takes special
pride in. Since 1996, the Alliance
has sought to ensure that New Yorkers and our visitors have the opportunity to
visit this wonderful place... | |
