Ebbing

The harbor waterfalls are falling only half-time for the balance of their scheduled operation through October 13. Responding to complaints that mist from the salt water was harming trees and plants - visible at the north end of the Island where much of the greenery has turned brown - the four installations now operate 49½ hours a week instead of 101 hours. The Brooklyn Heights Association had asked the city to shut them down completely after Labor Day.
